Открытая лекция профессора ИКВИА ФГН А.А. Локтионова по древнеегипетскому праву (видео)

3 февраля профессор ИКВИА ФГН А.А. Локтионов прочитал открытую лекцию "Judge like an Egyptian: Legal processes and dramas in the Pharaonic courts" в Лондоне для британского Egypt Exploration Society.

This talk provides a short introduction to the ideas and institutions that shaped Ancient Egyptian justice. It begins by briefly discussing Ancient Egyptian legal philosophy, considering both the overarching idea of Maat (‘right conduct’) and the practical extent to which this was (or was not) implemented in legal practice. After a brief look at some of the officials and courts tasked with conducting justice, the talk will then provide several case studies of justice in action across several settings: from the highly sacred (royal tomb robbery) to the profane (a disputed jar of fat). How effective were these adjudication methods? And what if they went wrong?
